Cardiac Procedures

Coronary Angioplasty

An angiogram is a special type of X-Ray using dye to show if there is narrowing of the coronary arteries. The coronary arteries supply the heart with blood. Narrowing in these arteries can cause chest pain (angina) and a blockage can cause a heart attack. This test can also detect problems with the heart valves, or the pumping action of the heart.

Balloon Angioplasty

Balloon Angioplasty is a procedure used to treat narrowing of the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart. This involves inflating a small balloon inside the artery so as to increase the blood flow to the heart.

Pacemaker Implantation

Pager-sized pacemakers rest just under the collarbone to stimulate hearts that beat too slowly.

Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator

Smaller than the size of a palm, an ICD packs a lot of power into a little space. It sends electrical pulses to the heart when rhythms get dangerously out of control, effectively halting racing beats and protecting against Sudden Cardiac Death.

Coronary Angiography

An angiogram is a special type of X-Ray using dye to show if there is narrowing of the coronary arteries. The coronary arteries supply the heart with blood. Narrowing in these arteries can cause chest pain (angina) and a blockage can cause a heart attack. This test can also detect problems with the heart valves, or the pumping action of the heart.

Coronary Stenting

Carotid artery stenting is a procedure in which your vascular surgeon inserts a slender, metal-mesh tube, called a stent, which expands inside your carotid artery to increase blood flow in areas blocked by plaque.

Coronary Bypass Surgery

Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) is a surgical procedure to bypass a blocked artery of the heart. This surgery may be combined with heart valve repair or replacement if the patient also has a malfunctioning heart valve.

Cardiac Catheterization

Cardiac catheterization is a minimally invasive procedure generally employed to diagnose and treat certain heart conditions. It involves threading a thin flexible tube through a blood vessel to the heart. Your doctor can perform diagnostic tests and some procedures on your heart with the help of the catheter.

Heart Valve Repair or Prolapse

Mitral valve repair is a surgical procedure performed for the management of mitral valve stenosis (narrowing) or regurgitation (leakage). The mitral valve is situated between the two left chambers (left atrium and left ventricle) of the heart. In mitral valve regurgitation, there is improper closure of the mitral valve allowing the backward flow of blood into the heart.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Adequate rehabilitation means most cardiac patients can return to their normal activities lead enjoyable and productive lives and have reduced risk of further cardiac events. Cardiac rehabilitation provides patients and their families with a program of education, information, physical activity and support.

Cardioversion

Cardioversion is the process by which an abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia) is restored to normal. Arrhythmia can result in improper blood supply to the heart and brain, adversely affecting their functions.
