All patients are provided with the next available appointment to see their cardiologist. Emergency appointments can only be arranged by your GP. If you feel your condition deteriorates or requires more urgent attention from your cardiologist, you are advised to consult your GP. If your GP agrees that you need to see a cardiologist urgently, then he or she will phone and speak directly to your cardiologist who, if necessary, will then modify his schedule to see you as soon as possible.
Because of long waiting lists for appointments, we ask that you notify this office if you are unable to attend, so that your time may be re-scheduled.
We ask that you bring the following to your appointment:
- Your referral from your GP
- A full list of your current medications
- Results of any recent blood tests, x rays, and other cardiac tests
Sometimes your appointment time will be late or rescheduled:
People suffer cardiac emergencies at any time of the day and night, and these patients are always given priority treatment by this practice. As such, there may be times when your appointment may be delayed or rescheduled for your cardiologist to attend to patients suffering with myocardial infarction (heart attack) or other cardiac emergencies. We apologise for any inconvenience, but assure all patients that they also will receive this emergency treatment should it be required.
